Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina has declared that none of his colleagues in the remaining 35 states can have any excuse not to pay salaries of workers before the Christmas celebration.
This is because most of the governors now have the last tranche of the Paris Club loan refund from the federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to him, all the civil servants should be paid their entire entitlements before the end of the year as promised.
Masari reportedly said: “By Christmas, everybody will be able to get his salary and whatever allowances are outstanding especially in the area of pension and gratuity.”
He added that his administration currently owes no worker as the payment is up-to-date.
He further said the Katsina state government has sufficient funds to settle all its pension and gratuity liabilities.
“We have the money, it is in the bank and I believe other states also have.
“No state can have any excuse not to pay before Christmas, in fact celebrations have already started.

“It is my hope and prayers that all that have gotten the money have paid their workers, both salaries, allowances, pension and gratuity,” he said.
NAIJ.com earlier reported how 27 state governors in Nigeria received the balance of the Paris Club loan refund, as confirmed by Olubunmi Siyanbola, a director at the finance ministry.
The report quoted The Cable as stating that Siyanbola made the revelation recently while addressing journalists after the federation account allocation committee (FAAC) meeting where N609.959 billion was distributed to the three tiers of governments.
