Pure talent! Blind Liberian man creates guitar out of oil cans and plays it well too

A blind and homeless man from Duala market in Monrovia, Liberia is capturing the imagination of thousands around the world with his amazing guitar skills.

39-year-old Wesseh Freeman, also known as Weesay, makes his guitars by hand using old sticks, oil cans and used strings.

He possesses an incredible ability to play his unique guitars as well as a normal guitar, if not better. Still playing in the streets of Liberia to earn a living, Wesseh's music style is unique, and this is maybe because for him playing the guitar is really a question of survival.

Specialist website Guitar World has praised him in an article:

His frets are made from bike spokes or coat hangers and are apparently movable; yet he has a mastery of intonation. This instrument should be completely out of tune…but it’s not! Weesay plays it like a boss.

Videos of his performances have gone viral after the owners of O! Chips, a potato chips company in Liberia, Nikhil and Sachin Ramchandani popularly know as the Ramchandani brothers posted the first one on the YouTube channel in 2015.

Weesay now has his own YouTube channel and his videos have amassed thousands of views.

The Ramchandani brothers set up a fundraising page for him so he can find a home. Weesay also makes regular performances to make a living.
