- United manager Jose Mourinho is also said to be interested in him
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged the current club's boss Jose Mourinho to bring German and Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil to Old Trafford next summer.
The contract of Mesut Ozil at Arsenal will expire at the end of the ongoing Premier League campaign, and the former Real Madrid star has refused to agree another deal.
Ferdinand who was a strong defender during his playing days at Manchester United believes Mesut Ozil is the type of player that will help the Red Devils.

“Since he signed in the Premier League, he’s had the most assists and the most chances created.
“That tells you the standard of the player he is. When he was at Real Madrid, I played against him. He was a different player at Real Madrid from what I’ve seen here.

"The pace, he’s deceptively quick, and if you can get that out of him, with that ability. I will take him at Man United all day. Free transfer? No doubts.” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
