Nigeria is full of talented actors and actresses that captivate their audience with incredible performances. However, viewers also love looking behind the curtain to know what is going on in their favourite artists’ lives. For that reason, we have prepared a riveting story about Fathia Balogun husband, where we are going to tell you everything about Fathia and her famous relationship.
Who is Fathia Balogun?
Before we dive deep into the actress’ personal life, let’s take a minute to learn a little bit more about her. Fathia (also spelled as Faithia) Williams Balogun was born on February 5, 1969 in Ikeja, Lagos. She hails from Okpara, Delta state.
Interesting fact:
The actress has eight siblings. She grew up in a middle-class polygamous family of Catholics. Her early years were spent in Lagos State, but Fathia soon moved on to receive a degree in Law from the Kwara State Polytechnic.
After that, she spent some years working different low-paying jobs, until she was able to begin her acting career in the early 90s. However, her actual career did not start until the year 2000, as Fathia left Nigeria for London for a few years.
Today, she is a renowned award-winning Nollywood actress, director, producer and philanthropist. She is the founder of an NGO called Faithia & I, the goal of which is to support underprivileged children financially and morally.
But you are not here to read about the life story of one of the most famous Nollywood actresses. You are here to find out more about her (failed) marriage. Let us tell you all about it.
Short story of Fathia’s marriage with Saheed Balogun
On September 7, 2000, Faithia Zenabu Williams married Saidi (also known as Saheed) Balogun in Lagos. Saheed Balogun, born February 5, 1967, already had 22 years of acting experience under his belt when he married Fathia, who only began to find her footing in Nollywood.
It was the second marriage for Saidi, who was previously married to Sherifat (Serifat) Balogun. They had two children together, Zinnat and Jamal. According to some sources, it was also not the first marriage of Fathia. We do not know who her first husband was, but we do know that she had a daughter with him.
For the first few years, the couple seemed nice and peaceful. On July 11, 2002, the couple welcomed their first child, Khalid. Several years later, on April 3, 2005, their daughter Aaliyah was born. All looked fine and dandy.
But that was not the case:
Around March 2006, Fathia and Saheed suddenly split.

To this day, nobody knows for sure what happened. Some say that Fathia was cheating on Saheed, while others claim that things were the other way around. A few even go as far as to say that both of them had been unfaithful in the past.
But here is the thing:
Even though the two stopped living together in 2006, they only got divorced in 2014. For many years, the estranged couple often appeared in the media because of another scandal.
There were rumours that Saheed went on and married another woman, even though he was still married to his wife. However, as Saheed is a Muslim, it would not be surprising. Many media outlets reported that Saidi was dating Funke Adesiyan and Funke Elegushi during the time between the split and the divorce.
In 2014, someone spread another rumour that Fathia and Saheed were getting back together. Faithia did not disprove them, stating in one of her interviews that, technically, she was still Saidi’s wife. Nevertheless, Saheed came out and debunked them once and for all, which destroyed any chances of them getting back together.
Not long after, the media got hold of the couple’s divorce papers. It turned out that Saheed filed for divorce all the way back in April 2013. On January 17, 2014, Judge O.O. Atilade finally signed the petition for divorce, thus dissolving the marriage between Faithia and Saidi. The latter received the right to visit his children whenever he wanted.
Up until the day of their divorce, Faithia claimed that she was not going to drop her husband’s last name, as her children had it too. However, she has since returned to her maiden name, even though she is still often regarded as Faithia Balogun.
How are things between them now?
As of February 2017, things were still tense between the two. To prove that, Saidi did not invite Fathia to his 50th birthday. As a matter of fact, he did not even invite their children to the celebration. Instead, he spent it with his first wife and his first two children, as well as with few dozen other guests.
To make things clear, it does not seem like Saheed has anyone in his life right now. He is always surrounded by beautiful women, but none of them have captured his heart. At one point between 2015 and 2016, it was said that he was dating Funke Sofowora, but the romance did not last for too long. Saidi continues working in Nollywood as a director, producer, actor and film-maker.
It is hard to tell what Faithia is up to now, as she has seemingly left all of her social media. We have absolutely no clue what has been going on in her personal life for the past few months. She has made a few appearances here and there, but there have been no new developments and no Fathia Balogun new husband, as far as we can tell.
In some of her old interviews, the actress stated that she did not intend to remarry or look for a new partner. According to her, she wanted to focus on her family and her career.
What we do know is that, apparently Saidi and Fathia have finally reconciled after many years of not even talking to each other. The two have been spotted talking in a calm and civilised manner on numerous occasions, which is already much better than how they have communicated before.
We also know that you have finally reached the end of this fascinating tale about the tense relationship between Fathia and her husband. We hope that the two are no longer fighting, and that their children can grow up with both their mom and dad in the picture. God bless them.
