For example, Side and Marmaris are considered as German resorts, and therefore it is more profitable to take euros to these regions. US dollar is in operation in almost any area of Turkey, and it does not even need to be changed to Turkish lira. Except in some of the most remote and dead villages.
How and where is it profitable to change foreign money for Turkey currency?
It is better not to trust the small money changers and change the currency via the official exchangers or at a branch of a Turkish bank. Do not change currency at your hotel reception or upon arrival or departure at the airport.

If you go to the resort part of Turkey, like such cities as Antalya, Alanya, Marmaris, Kemer, Side, Dalaman, Bodrum, then it is better to take some euros or dollars with you. You can always exchange it for lira if you need to.
If you are visiting Ankara or Istanbul, you should not change your dollars to Turkish lira at home. The rate of lira to dollar after arrival will be more profitable. In most restaurants and stores, you can pay with a bank card but remember the large commission and conversion rate. But the fact still remains that it's possible to change your money to Lira in any part of the country.
So what is the currency of Turkey? As you see there is no way to unequivocally answer this question. There are different preferences in different parts of the country. We can say that Turkey is divided into the resort and non-resort parts. There are more comfortable conditions for tourists in the resort regions, so it is not a problem to use foreign currency.
