More than 2,000 civil servants suspended by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state in April 2015 are pleading for recall and reinstatement.
The suspended civil servants, claiming they were employed by the Uduaghan-led administration have decried the way in which they were suspended. They describe it as both 'illegal' and 'unfair.'

While speaking with news men on Sunday, January 28, the chairman of the sacked civil servants, Obukowho Regha disclosed that the sacked worker were employed on merit.
According to Channels Television's report, Regha also pleaded with the governor to come to their rescue, as they were going through hardship as a result of the suspension.
Regha said: “We have written to the House of Assembly that is supposed to be the mouthpiece for the oppressed and also to check the excesses of the executive arm of government, but to our greatest surprise, nobody dared see anything wrong with the executive, if you dare, you will be suspended, our petition to the house was never read.”
One of the suspended workers, Josephine Edumor, noted that some of her colleagues had to resign from their former jobs to accept an employment offered them by the previous government and were sacked only one month later.

Edumor noted: “For the past nine years I have been seeking and searching for this job and as God will have it about two years ago, I was given a job, only for the sitting governor to suspend our job with the hope of him recalling us back.”
In another news, NAIJ.com reported that the Delta state government on Sunday, January 21, berated the immediate past governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, over his alleged comment that the All Progressives Congress would extend its coast in the south south by installing an APC governor in the state.
During a mega rally of the APC held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, Edo state on Friday, January 19, Oshiomhole allegedly said the ruling APC would extend its coast in the south south by installing an APC governor in Delta state.
