Premier League champions, Chelsea are ready to let unsettled David Luiz join Arsenal as part of a deal to take badly-needed striker Giroud to Stamford Bridge.
Should the lanky French attacker sign for the Blues, then backup striker Michy Batshuayi will go to Borussia Dortmund and in return hitman Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng will finally be free to join the Gunners for £55m.
Chelsea offer Arsenal David Luis in surprise swap deal
The Bundesliga giants are also keen on signing £35m Giroud- but Chelsea misfit Batshuayi is their first pick.
Wenger planned on bringing Brazil centre-back Luiz, 30, to the Emirate last season to boost his backline but a deal did not pull through.

He also had eyes on West Brom’s Jonny Evans but has been unwilling to pay £25m for the Irishman.
David Luis is unsettled at the Blues
Chelsea accelerated interest in Giroud after deciding against Roma’s Edin Dzeko due to his wage demands and the length of the deal the 31-year-old wanted.
Initial talks centered on Giroud signing on loan until the end of the season, but Chelsea have now tried to move the deal along by offering Luiz, having bolstered their own defence with the impending arrival of £25m left-back Emerson Palmieri from Roma.
Luiz is also very much out of favour with boss Antonio Conte after a bust-up with the Italian.
In the last three months he has had just 32 minutes of league action for the Blues.

But it is thought, despite interest from Marseille in his homeland, Giroud would prefer a move to Chelsea as it means staying in London.
Whatever happens the Gunners remain confident of signing Gabon international Aubamayeng, who has made it clear to Dortmund that he wants to leave.
NAIJ.com previously reported that Arsenal are close to agreeing a sensational £60 million deal for Borussia Dortmund's Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang.
