The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state recently criticised Governor Yahaya Bello for buying fully into the cattle colony policy of the federal government without allegedly consulting properly.
Bode Ogunmola, the state's publicity secretary, while speaking in Lokoja, questioned why the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration offered land for the project that had allegedly been opposed by states where the party rules, the Guardian reports.

Ogunmola notes that the PDP has been following the debate on the policy since the unfortunate New Year Day massacre of over 70 villagers in Benue state by suspected herdsmen.
His said: “Not surprisingly, most states, many of which are governed by the APC rejected the idea. But, without the needed consultation, Governor Yahaya Bello eagerly and enthusiastically welcomed it.
“As we speak, truckloads of the herdsmen have started arriving our communities. Three trailer loads of herdsmen arrived Aghara, a small community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government.”

Ogunmola claimed that the herdsmen came with a letter which demanded that the traditional ruler should receive them without refusal.
He alleged that this party had received similar reports from other parts of the states, adding that that state was under siege.
NAIJ.com had earlier reported that the 10-man working committee constituted few days ago by the national economic council to end attacks by herdsmen had decided that every state should design its own solutions.
According to the report, the committee proposed that the states should come up with the solutions after a rigorous consultative process with all stakeholders.
The committee, headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, comprised the governors of Adamawa, Benue, Ebonyi, Edo, Kaduna, Oyo, Plateau and Zamfara states.
