Speaking in Warri, the Ijaw party leaders, led by a chieftain of the APC, Chief Chris Porbeni, remarked that Uduaghan’s defection was a welcome development.
Porbeni stated that the APC was determined to unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Government House in the general elections of 2019.
Porbeni said: “We are very ready to receive and welcome our former governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, to APC. But we want to correct the wrong impression that the former governor has been given an automatic ticket of the party for Delta South Senatorial District.
"This is not true. Uduaghan is qualified but will go through the party’s primary, like every other senatorial aspirant.”
