- The chairmanship election in Ikosi Isheri has been questioned by some residents
- The residents also called for the cancellation of the Saturday July 22 election
- Residents alleged that the election was rigged in favour of a 68-year-old man at the expense of a 35-year-old
Some residents of IkosI Isheri LCDA called for the annulment of the chairmanship results in the state over massive irregularities.
According to those calling for the annulment, there was massive electoral fraud in Ward f and ward A.

They also alleged that the massive rigging took place till late in the night of 22nd of July 2017 even after the official conclusion of the poll.
Several riggings was said to have taken place in several polling unit of Mile 12 and Isheri in the night, the exact reason why the result wasn’t announced until 1am midnight.
In a statement made available to NAIJ.com, the election was rigged ion favour of a 68-year-old man at the expense of a 35-year-old.
"The people’s choice in the concluded election is the gallant 35-year-old Accord Party candidate, Prince Owolabi Taiwo who they claimed to have won the election in landslide victory over the 68-year-old APC candidate, Oyesanya who was also the incumbent Chairman.
"Oyesanya was however impeached twice during the last administration for massive corruption and gross misconduct and also misuse of office but returned into office by higher authorities. As it is, the people in the community did not want Oyesanya as their Chairman after a terrible first tenure and had gone all out to support a youth in the 35-year-old Accord party.

A security man at the venue was quoted to have said that:“There is a script in play, we must all act according to the script, name*, this is beyond you all, and please I beg you just go home. Nothing can change the plan.”
NAIJ.com had reported that at least 1300 candidates from 12 political parties are vying for chairmanship and councillorship positions in the just concluded election. The ruling All Progressives Congress has so far had a sweeping victory at the polls.
For example, In Lagos Island local government, APC won with 14,692 votes while PDP clinched 925 votes, with the Labour Party taking third place with 1211 votes.
