Adebayo Shittu, the minister for communications, has disclosed that the Buhari administration is ready to invest the sum of 1 billion dollars into the ICT sector.
According to Daily Trust, Shittu made his comments over the weekend in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

NAIJ.com notes that as part of preparations for the 4th Industrial Revolution, the minister also disclosed that the federal government plans to establish a national ICT park and exhibition center in the nation’s capital.
Shittu was delivering a paper at the Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan, titled: ‘Jobs Nowhere But Jobs Everywhere: ICT to the Rescue of Unemployed Graduates and Youths’.
The minister stated that it was all part of the federal government’s efforts to diversify the Nigerian economy.
Shittu further disclosed that talks were already taking place between the federal government and major stakeholders to create more jobs.
The minister recalled the state of the nation address delivered by president Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, in which the president pin-pointed the ICT sector as a pillar for job and wealth creation in Nigeria.
According to Shittu, the government was ready to give out grants, loans, sponsorships and financial support as a means of fostering youth empowerment through ICT.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the federal government inaugurated a N700 million government contact center in Abuja to boost ease of doing business through technological innovations and information dissemination.
The minister of communications, Adebayo Shittu who inaugurated the centre said the platform would create job opportunities and a turn around to the Nigeria’s ailing economy.
