The Not Too Young To Run movement has commended speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara for reaffirming his commitment to the passage of the Not Too Young to Run bill.

The Not Too Young To Run which has been a subject of discuss recently seeks to remove the age limits in the requirement for Running for elective office as stated in the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as amended.
The group reacting clarification the speaker gave on regarding the reported scrapping of the bill asked the House of Representatives to furnish it with the title and further particulars of the amendment as presently labelled in the ongoing constitution review process.
It said: “As a movement, we are determined in our quest for a true people’s constitution anchored on the principles of inclusion, equality and justice. We therefore invite citizens to join us on July 25, 2017 for the National Day of Action on Not Too Young To Run as we engage our legislators and press home our demand ahead of the clause by clause voting on new amendments to the constitution.

"As the National Assembly prepares to vote on constitutional amendments next week, we urge our esteemed lawmakers to be guided by good conscience, equity and justice. The interests of the people must prevail. We urge citizens to be vigilant and reach out to their legislators to ensure the outcome of this constitution review process is a reflection of the wishes and aspirations of Nigerians."
The group said it was awaiting the eventual passage of the age removal clause as promised by the speaker.
Meanwhile, thousands of Nigerian youths today, Tuesday, July 25 took to major streets in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to protest over the Not Too Young to Run bill.
The youths are drawn from major youth groups in the country.
The protest kicked off from the popular Unity Fountain and will end at the National Assembly.
