The acting president Yemi Osinbajo has described the recent abduction of women in Borno state as “atrocious and cowardly.”
Osinbajo who shared his heartfelt sympathy with the families of the abducted women said that President Muhammadu Buhari's government will do everything possible to ensure the safe and speedy return of all the victims.
He urged Nigeria’s military and intelligence agencies to make a concerted effort to rescue victims, Premium Times reports.
Boko Haram terrorists had on June 20 ambushed a convoy travelling under military escort along Biu road in Borno state and abducted 14 women.

NAIJ.com gathered that the sect on Monday, July 17, released a video showing some of the women asking the government to negotiate their release.
The video showed about 10 of the women who appeared traumatised but well kept.

Osinbajo in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Laolu Akande, on Wednesday, July 19 read: ‘’The Buhari presidency assures that the ongoing efforts of security agencies, including the establishment of additional military and police bases in parts of the country, as well as the improved intelligence gathering will continue, and commends some of the recent significant breakthroughs in combating kidnapping and banditry in the country.''
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Boko Haram insurgents released a new video of 10 women who were recently abducted by the terrorists following an attack on a police convoy in Borno state.
The video stated that the insurgents reportedly sent the 4 minutes 41 seconds footage to its outfit on Monday, July 17.
