A goalkeeper in Georgia Shotaa Maminashvili has tragically died after collapsing during his team’s warm-up.

Maminashvili was turning out for Zugdidi FC on Sunday ahead of their match with Vit Georgia in the town of Mtsjeta.

However, the 31-year-old Georgian collapsed during the warm-up and he was immediately rushed to hospital after losing consciousness, but he later died in hospital.
Zugdidi director Revaz Pertaia told media in Georgia: "They could not save him. It is a horrible tragedy. He was a good sportsman and a good person."

After news broke of Maminashvili’s tragic death the match between Zugdidi and Vit Georgia was immediately called off.
The cause of death has so far not been unknown as it has not been reported as at the time of filing this report.
