The Ogun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered a huge setback as over 200 members of the party from nine local government areas in Ogun east senatorial district have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Sun reports that the defections took place on Wednesday, October 4, in Ijebu Ode during an interactive session by the Ogun east chapter of APC with a gubernatorial aspirant, Hon Abiodun
The PDP decampees were welcomed by the chairman of APC senatorial district, Alhaji Folorunsho Elias, the Sun reports.
The chairman said the Governor Ibikunle Amosun had made the APC liked by many in the state due to good governance.
He assured the PDP members that they will be justly treated in the party, noting that a level-playing ground would also be provided for them.

Elias also urged party members to increase the popularity of the APC in the state ahead of the 2019 general election by embarking on mobilisation of new members.
Meanwhile, a PDP stalwart in Agege area of Lagos, Raheem Oyeniyi, on Tuesday, October 3, defected to All Progressives Congress (APC), citing Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode’s sterling performance as reason.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Oyeniyi gave notice of his defection in a letter to the APC ward chairman in Orile-Agege area on Tuesday.
Oyeniyi was PDP House of Representatives candidate for Agege constituency in the 2015 general elections.
