Sport is supposed to create memorable moments for fans and 2017 sure did give us many moments which will be itched in our souls forever.
Sometimes it was a legend announcing his retirement other it was another proposing after a big match that left us with tears in our eyes.
NAIJ.com takes a look at 7 moments from 2017 that left us all misty-eyed;
1. Usain Bolt crumbles in final race
The greatest sprinter ever Usain Bolt retired in 2017 but he did not do so in style, rather he pulled up with an injury was he ran his last race.

He tore his left hamstring in the final race of his career during the 4x100-meter relay at the IAAF World Championships in August. He fell to the ground before getting back up and walking across the finish line.
2. Eduardo Berrizo is diagnosed with cancer
Sevilla coach Eduardo Berizzo had just steered his side 3 - 3 draw against Liverpool in the Champions league. His side was losing 3 - 0 at half-time but it was later revealed he told his players about his ailment and they duly responded with three goals.

He has successfully undergone surgery and is expected back shortly.

3. Marc Bartra of Dortmund returns after surviving bomb blast
The defender fractured his wrist and merely survived a bomb attack on the Borussia Dortmund team bus on April 11 ahead of a Champions League game against AS Monaco.
He would however return a month later to play in Dortmund's final league game of last season against Werder Bremen and the occasion was truly emotional.
4. Gianluigi Buffon and Italy missing the World Cup
Who doesn't lose Gianluigi Buffon? The Juventus and Italy legend lost the Champions League final against Real Madrid but what truly made us cry was when Italy failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Seeing Buffon cry on national TV was emotional as it dawned on all that his brilliance would be missed at next year's competition.
5. The Undertaker retires
The Phenom finally called time on his over 30-year career after a crushing defeat to Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 33. The Undertaker laid down his wrestling gear in the ring to signal the end of his WWE career.

6. John Cena proposes to his wife
Before Undertaker's retirement, John Cena stole out hearts when he proposed to his Nikki Bella at Wrestlemania.
After he and fiancee Nikki Bella defeated The Miz and wife Mayrse, Cena went down on his knees and proposed in what was a very touching moment.

7. Chapecoense players make emotional return to the pitch
Chapecoense successfully returned to the pitch in February for a match which was the first they have played since the plane crash that killed 71 people, including 19 of their players, on November 28.
The three surviving players, Neto, Jakson Follmann and Alan Ruschel were presented before kick-off.
The survivng players endured an emotional on their return to the pitch.
