- He also challenged the conference to come out with suggestions that would assist good governance
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, December 19, called on Muslim clerics to help his administration in fighting corruption.
President Buhari made the appeal at the 55th Conference of League of Imams and Alfas of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states held in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, Premium Times reports.
The president noted that for war on corruption to be effectively won, everyone needs to be involved; including clerics preaching against the menace.
NAIJ.com gathered that President Buhari, who was represented by his special adviser on Political Matters, Babafemi Ojodu, urged all Muslims to always pray for the survival of Nigeria.

He said: “What is expected of you at this moment is to preach continuously against corruption in your mosques all the time.”
Buhari also used the occasion to remind public office holders to always remember that they are holding such office in trust for God and not for their selfish interest.
He thanked the Imams and Alfas for their prayers for him while he was sick.
He concluded by challenging the conference to come out with suggestions that would assist good governance at the end of their gathering.

NAIJ.com previously reported that President Buhari received the report of the panel on the review of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) in the afternoon of Tuesday, December 19 as he met with the committee chairman, Babagana Kingibe.
Speaking at the meeting, President Buhari said all those found culpable in the Osborne Towers scandal would be made to account for their alleged crime and appropriately sanctioned.
The president described the discovery of monies in the flat at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, in April, 2017 as an “unfortunate incident which rightly aroused public interest and outcry.”
