- The protest began on Monday, December 18 because of their inability to sit for their second semester examination earlier scheduled for September 18
- They were also accused of allegedly attempting to kill a police officer, Daniel Samuel, by inflicting injuries with an iron, on his forehead
A magistrate court in Abeokuta on Thursday, December 21, arraigned some students who were arrested for their involvement in a violent protest in the school, Premium Times reports.
NAIJ.com gathered that the students were charged for unlawful assault, vandalisation and obstruction of peace.

The students were 17 in number. According to the charge sheet, with case number MA/839c/2017, the students allegedly attempted to kill one police officer, Daniel Samuel, by inflicting injuries with an iron, on his forehead.
They were also accused of unlawfully assaulting another police officer, Bola Alonge, and preventing him from executing his official duty. They were charged to have also vandalised a MAPOLY Hilux vehicle.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offences were contrary to sections 516, 320, 356(1)(2)(3)(4)(5), 69 and 451 of the criminal code laws of Ogun state, 2006.
An oral application for bail was made by Bunmi Adelabu, one of the counsels to the accused persons, arguing that the offences for which they were charged do not carry a death penalty.
Adelabu relied on section 118(2) in her argument, saying that justice must be done in the case not only judicially according to the law but also judiciously according to the fact before the court.
She explained that most of the accused persons had nothing to do with the offence for which they were arrested, adding that they were victims of circumstances.
The counsel told the court that the second accused person, Oyero Oladotun, is a corps member serving in Oyo state while three others were arrested during training.
Ruling on the case, the magistrate, Adeola Adelaja, granted the accused persons to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in the like sum.
He made emphasis that one of the sureties must be a civil servant not less than level 10 or a responsible community leader who must be resident with the jurisdiction of the court.
The magistrate also made it clear that evidence of tax payment by the sureties in the last two years must be shown to the to the government of Ogun state.

The police were ordered by Adelaja to release some seized items including a bike, an iPhone 7, two Samsung phones, among others to the accused persons.
The case was adjourned to February 2, 2018.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa Command, announced the arrest of four students of Government Science and Technical College (GSTC), Karkarna, in Yankwashi local government area of Jigawa state.
The students allegedly stole 18 new mini Samsung laptop computers donated to the college by the federal government.
