The Bravavie Kite Festival is one of the first of its kind in Nigeria and is a prototype of international kite festivals around the world. It is an attempt to tap into the multifaceted and diverse tourism industry of Lagos to bring lifestyle family events that are relaxing, entertaining and informative.
The event was borne from the need to foster work-life balance, reduce screen time, encourage family bonding, and promote outdoor activities for one’s physical and mental well-being. It will also be used as a platform for impact as every year, social impact issues will be addressed by the forerunners of the event. This year, Bravavie Kite Festival is partnering with Mentally Aware Initiative Nigeria to address the issue of mental health and its importance in our society today.
The festival will provide an interactive, creative, fun and educational experience for the children to learn, relax and express themselves. It will also be an opportunity for the children to acquaint themselves thoroughly with kite flying as a long-forgotten hobby asthey prepare to compete with other schools for prizes at the festival.
Bravavie meaning: ”Brave Life” is slated for October 20, 2018 at Oniru Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos. It is an all-day event, kicking off with a kite flying competition between 4 primary schools by 10:00 am. Other features include food and drink vendors, beach games for children and adults, kite flying displays and sales of kites and select merchandise.
