There are some notable names missing from the PFA player of the season shortlist which was just released today.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaaku, Ngolo Kante and Eden Hazard were nominated for the PFA player of the year.
NAIJ.com has compiled a list of notable players who missed out of the player of the year shortlist.
1. Sadio Mane
The Liverpool forward is one of the major absentee from the PFA player of the year shortlist. The Senegalese international has scored 10 Premier League goal for the Reds and has been instrumental to the Reds campaign this season.

2. Dele Alli
The English youngster has had an amazing season thus far but missed out on the PFA player of the year shortlist.
The 21 year old has scored 16 goals for Tottenham this season. However he has been nominated for the 2016/17 PFA young player of the year.
The midfielder also won the 2015/2016 EPL goal of the season.

3. Christian Eriksen
Another major absentee from the PFA player of year shortlist! The Tottenham midfielder is one of the best performers in the EPL this season.
The Danish international has been instrumental to Spurs campaign this season. He has assisted 11 goals for Tottenham this season.

4. Diego Costa
The Chelsea forward is another major absentee from the PFA player of the year. The Spanish international is one of the key players in Chelsea’s resurgence this season under new manager Conte. The 28 year old has scored 17 goals for Chelsea this season.

5. Kevin De Bruyne
The Belgium forward has been one of the exceptional players for Manchester City this season. The 25 year old was one of the key players missing in the PFA player of the year shortlist.
He has assisted 11 goals for Manchester City this season.

6. Pedro Rodriguez:
Another missing player from the PFA player of the year shortlist! The Spanish international is one of the best performers for Chelsea this season.
The 29 year old is one of the major absentees from the PFA player of the year shortlist. He has scored 7 and has assisted 7 goals for Chelsea this season.
