Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has suggested he would not pick players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The German says the best players from Nigeria are not within the shores of the country but abroad.

His latest comments could be a huge blow to the likes of Stephen Odey the current top goal scorer in the NPFL who Rohr scouted last weekend.

NAIJ.com recalls that the Super Eagles play two friendly games in France next month before taking on South Africa in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers on June 10.

The team would then face AFCON 2017 winners the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in back to back 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Rohr told Own Goal: “We have players we want to test with the upcoming friendlies.

“We will also look at some areas of the team that needs strengthening during the games, so we won’t call up players for the sake of it.
“Right now the best Nigerian players are in Europe. When a player is playing well at home he wants to go to Europe.”
