Using a recent wedding in Lagos as a case study, the bride’s engagement outfit cost about N1.5 million not to talk of how much other stuffs would have gulped. On the day of the wedding, the couple provided G-Wagons for each person on the bridal train to convey them from the hotel to the church and then the reception. The lavish spending did not end there as couple staged a Las Vegas themed after party were a game spot was provided for people to play games and go home with money as souvenirs. It is obvious that this wedding did not gulp thousands but millions of money.
This has just everyone thinking if people can still stage a successful wedding ceremony for as low as N500,000. NAIJ.com took to its Facebook profile to conduct this research and majority is of the opinion that it is not possible while others claim it is too much.

One Bill Gift Opara said: “Only a fool will loan money for wedding. It is pride that will make a man spend such amount of money in this hard time. When planning for wedding a man should also plan for after wedding. For me N300,000 will do both. If food is not enough anybody he/she should go and eat in their house.”
Chris Ativie also said: “For which country? When to marry educated ibo girl, bride price is N1million, the things you will buy. If she no go school N500,000. My guy that was given list from kalaba, when we calculated everything for d tradition it was 4million. U will see wheelbarrow, broom, pump for football, grandma list, grandpa list, community list, kindred, close friends. Just traditional marriage.”
