- Dr Doyin Okupe says the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party would soon fade away in Nigeria
- Okupe, who left the PDP to Accord Party, says he did not dump the former ruling party out of anger
- He describes the APC as failure claiming that Accord Party is open to youths in the country
Weeks after he joined the Accord Party, Dr Doyin Okupe, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has predicted an end to the two major political parties in Nigeria.
Okupe said Nigerians had become tired of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party (DPP) adding that this signifies an end to the activities in the country.
Okupe, who also worked with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said he left the PDP after realizing that the party and the ruling APC had failed the people.

The Point said Okupe spoke in Abeokuta at the Ogun state congress of the Accord Party where Isaac Amusa emerged the chairman.
Okupe said he did not leave the PDP as a result of any rift with the leadership of the party.
“I didn’t ask for anything. I didn’t quarrel with anybody, I didn’t fight with anybody, I didn’t ask for anything and nobody offered me anything.
“I am just saying that the end of the road has come, not just for PDP but also for the APC.
“I keep saying it because these two parties no longer have the capacity of the make-up, which they can give people in Nigeria unless the Nigerian citizens want to fool themselves.
“What happened in Anambra is a watershed. Here was the candidate that was backed by the government and money.
“The PDP candidate was backed by the political juggernauts in Anambra state, because Anambra is 100 per cent PDP, yet Obiano won the election, not just because he performed, but because people wanted to punish the existing parties and it will happen in every state, including Ogun,” he said adding that the AP is open to younger Nigerians to seek elective offices.
He said he believes the AP would produce the next governor of Ogun state since it remains the best party in the country currently.
“We want to hold a ladder at the platform so that young people can climb.

“Most of us really have very little or no more political ambition but we are dissatisfied with the way we have practised politics and with the way political parties are manifesting.
“It is not something of repute; it’s not something that we can be proud of, even for those of us that have been in for a very long time,” he said.
NAIJ.com earlier reported how Doyin Okupe recently said only a coalition of political parties could defeat the APC in the 2019 presidential election.
Okupe on Saturday, November 25, warned that the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party would not defeat President Muhammadu Buhari if it decides to do it all alone.
