Speaking at the event, President Buhari assured Nigerians that his government is doing everything possible to stem the tide of violence recorded frequently across the country.
His words: “We are stepping up our efforts to tackle the proliferation of small arms and light weapons across the country.
“The security agencies already have standing instructions to arrest and prosecute anyone found with illegal arms.”
Meanwhile, the current killings in some parts of the country have been described as a plot to detract the Federal Government of Nigeria from providing good governance to the populace. This is the position of a group known as Unity Peace Initiative for the Survival of the Society.
The group warned those it called detractors to allow the Muhammadu Buhari administration to impact positively on the lives of Nigerians.
