Since the release of the explosive letter by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday, January 23, the former president has been trending on social media.
Nigerians on twitter are relentlessly reacting to the comprehensive statement addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari.
In the letter titled: "The Way Out: A Clarion Call for Coalition for Nigeria Movement", Obasanjo asked Buhari to honourably dismount from the horse and join the league of former leaders whose experience, influence, wisdom and outreach can be deployed on the side line for the good of the country.
He asked the current president not to follow the pressures from some Nigerians asking him to seek re-election in 2019.
Here are some reactions on Twitter:
"Obasanjo says no to APC and PDP. Technically, he is issuing both parties a joint red card in preference for what he calls CN Coalition for Nigeria." - JJ Omojuwa
"Obasanjo, Ango Abdullahi, Aisha Buhari, Wole Soyinka, Tunde Bakare, Ghali Na'aba.
And still counting.....
#BuhariMustGo club is swelling.
I join them with The Oracle @AbdulMahmud01 to say
#TimeUpBuhari You have failed." - Sir Ariyo-Dare Atoye

"Just finished reading Baba Obasanjo’s letter. The summary is simple:
Buhari has failed and should go and rest but PDP that is now controlled by Wike is not an option.
He says a 3rd option is the only way out and Nigerians must arise to take charge of the country." - Adeyanju Deji
"For those that can think, and have a clear conscience free from sycophantic tendencies, you’d agree that everything Obasanjo said in the simple truth. Buhari is incompetent and clannish. He failed on most of his promises. Infact, he denied some."- Dr Dipo Awojide
"We must put an end to Obasanjo's overbearing influence on the polity, the country doesn't belong to him,he doesn't get to dictate who gets what and when,he's a part of our political and developmental problems and he must be treated as such." - Tomide
"It seems the game is on. The plan is to pressure Buhari against running.
Obasanjo as ever, eternally selfish. Once you stop doing his bidding, he turns on you.
Let's hope this time, the right candidate is chosen. 'Anyone but Buhari' should not be a manifesto....." - Gege

NAIJ.com previously reported that Northern youths group commended former president Obasanjo for his letter asking President Buhari not to contest in 2019.
The president of Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, said what the former president said is what they had seen long ago and had been drawing the president’s attention to.
Shettima said: “Obasanjo is saying what people like us saw from inception. We saw it coming earlier than now. We felt patriotism does not mean if government favours you, you cannot be objective. Being objective means even if it is your father that is doing something strong, you should summon courage to say it is right or wrong..."
