- APC senatorial candidate in Kaduna state, Uba Sani, has debunked rumours that the restraining order he filed still subsists
- He said the order had been vacated even before the primary election where he became the party's candidate for Kaduna central
- The party's national leadership of APC had given automatic ticket for the current occupier of the seat, Shehu Sani, before the state chapter of the party overturned the decision
The winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Kaduna central zone, Malam Uba Sani, has refuted reports that the case he filed in court restraining the APC from conducting primary elections subsists.
Daily Trust repors that Sani, who spoke through his counsel, Sule Shaibu, said the order has been vacated even before the primary which threw up Uba Sani as the party’s candidate.

NAIJ.com gathered that the counsel said he was amazed by reports to the effect that the order subsists at the time the primary was conducted.
He said while it is true Sani filed an action before a Kaduna state high court and obtained a restraining order against the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), it is also true that the court duly vacated the order and paved the way for the conduct of the party primaries.
He said it is saddening that those who are expected to know are saying things contrary to the reality on ground.
“We secured an interim injunction restraining not only the party from conducting any form of primary election as it were, but also INEC from observing any process or accepting any, where Uba Sani’s name is excluded from the process of election.
“On Thursday October 2, it became clear that the national body of APC had resolved that all those who actually purchased nomination forms should be cleared, and were so cleared to contest the election.
“And the electoral body sent by the party actually came down on that date with the verified list of those qualified to contest duly signed by the national chairman of the party.
“Upon proper consideration and further instruction, we proceeded the following day, and filed a notice of discontinuance of the matter,” he explained.
The lawyer assigned by the APC to represent defendants in the motion, James Kanyip, had said to the best of his knowledge, the case had not been withdrawn from court at the time of the primary.
