Reigning European League champions Real Madrid suffered their first defeat in the 2018/19 Champions League on Tuesday, October 2, losing 0-1 against Russia side CSKA Moscow.
20-year-old Croatian attacking midfielder Nikola Vlasic who is on loan from Everton scored the goal that condemned Real Madrid to a defeat in the 2nd minute of the game.
CSKA Moscow were determined to win the match from the blast of the whistle till the last minute as they exemplified superb display in front of their faithfuls.
Frenchman Karim Benzema had a chance to restore parity for Real Madrid in the 33rd minute when he was set up by Toni Kroos, but he was unable to beat goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.
Real Madrid coach was forced to remove Casemiro for Luka Modric to come into the game, but the Croatia international could not save the champions from a defeat in Moscow.
CSKA Moscow have now gone to the top in Group G with four points after two games played, while Real Madrid are occupying second position on the standings with three points.
