Ramel Ortiz, 32, was released from the Clark
County Jail on March 8 after serving time for a
domestic battery charge. About ten hours later,
the woman was raped in her home, the Las
Vegas Review Journal reported Monday.
In a police report obtained by the newapaper,
the woman begged the intruder not to hurt her
daughter. “The only thing she was thinking
about was her daughter,” the report states.
Key pieces of evidence turned up at the scene,
including two pairs of fluorescent orange boxer
shorts labeled “CCDC” for Clark County
Detention Center, and orange socks.
In a detailed timeline of events, police said Ortiz
entered a woman’s home in the early morning
hours of March 9th, grabbed her at gunpoint,
and raped her multiple times. DNA was
collected from a pair of boxers and other items
in the home and tested positive for Ortiz.
Ortiz was charged with four counts of sexual
assault with a deadly weapon, burglary with a
deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon,
first-degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon,
second-degree kidnapping and three counts of
open or gross lewdness.
