A woman who was allegedly raped in
Aberdeen was found naked from the
waist down on the street, a court has
heard.
Prosecutors allege that Sammy Stewart
raped the 27-year-old, who cannot be
named for legal reasons, at a property
on Spey Road on September 24, 2014.
The Crown claims that Stewart took
advantage of the woman while she was
“intoxicated and under the influence of
drugs” while he was on bail.
The 30-year-old denies the charge
against him and went on trial at the
city’s high court yesterday.
Giving evidence during the first day of
the trial, the woman who claims to have
been attacked was questioned via video
link.
She told the jury that she was friendly
with Stewart and had met him in the
Market Arms, on the city’s Market
Street, while she was waiting to go for a
haircut.
The court heard that she had joined him
and another man before the group
moved onto the Old King’s Highway, on
The Green.
They had then left for another pub,
Aitchie’s Ale House, on Trinity Street.
The witness told advocate depute
Stephen McCloy that she had gone back
to the Market Arms to meet her cousin
and his girlfriend but she could not
remember anything else.
She claimed she had gaps in her
memory but the next thing she
remembered was being found on a
street in Mastrick by a woman driving a
4×4.
At this point, the jury heard, the witness
was wearing a black shirt and white T-
shirt but did not have any clothing on
her bottom half.
The motorist called the emergency
services and she was taken into the
back of an ambulance.
However, the witness said that when
police arrived they had to call for
female officers as she was “freaking
out”.
