- Suspected herdsmen are reported to have caused havoc in Plateau state

- Four persons were reported killed and 10 others injured
A report by New Telegraph indicates that at least four persons have been confirmed killed following an attack by suspected herdsmen in Josho village, Daffo Chiefdom, Bokkos local government area of Plateau state on Wednesday, January 24.
According to the report, more than ten people were also injured in the attack with dozens of houses razed down.
Confirming the attack, the village head of Daffo, Chief Saf Dauda Maren said the attack was a follow up to an earlier dispute over grazing space between some herdsmen and native youths.
Police Public Relations Officer of Plateau State, Matthias Terna who put the number of deaths at three said one person has been arrested in connection to the attack.
Normalcy has however returned to the area following series of peace meetings between the herdsmen and Ron community leaders.
The meetings are expected to continue today, Thursday, January 25 towards preventing further violence in the area.
Some unnamed sources say fresh herdsmen attacks were also recorded in Tashek, Jop village in Riyom local government area and Rafiki village, in Bassa local government area of the state.
Meanwhile, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, on Tuesday, January 23, said the state government was making arrangements to establish 1,000 pastoralists’ settlements to curtail the recurring clash between farmers and herdsmen.
The governor made the disclosure while presenting the N151 billion 2018 proposed budget to the state’s House of Assembly in Birnin Kebbi. He said the settlements would be provided with water, animal feed, land and other amenities.
