President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, January 26, departed for Addis Ababa to attend the 30th Ordinary Session of Assembly of African Union Heads of State and Government summit.
The development was made public by the president's special adviser on media and publicity Femi Adesina, a post on Facebook.
The president would lead Nigeria's delegation to the summit which would hold between January 28 and January 29.

The 2017 Ordinary Session on Anti-Corruption had endorsed President Buhari to champion AU anti-corruption for 2018 with the theme “Winning the Fight Against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation.”

The president is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his colleagues on the sidelines of the summit.
He would be accompanied on the trip by Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs; Abubakar Malami, minister of justice and Attorney-General of the Federation; Abdulrahman Danbazau, minister of interior, among others.

NAIJ.com previously reported that a presidential spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu described President Muhammadu Buhari’s contributions to the just concluded 5th AU-EU summit in Abidjan as cogent, timely and highly perceptive.
Shehu, who is the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, stated this in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday night.

According to him, during the summit which was held between Nov. 28 and 29, President Buhari demonstrated the pivotal role Nigeria plays in continental affairs and in the relationship that Africa must forge with other regions of the world.
