A single mother in Oklahoma, US, panicked when her 13-year-old son disappeared for a week in December. However, he had done so for a heartwarming reason.
According to KFOR, Sophia Reed had just moved into a new apartment with her son, Diauris, and daughter, Deneisha.
However, she had to report Diauris missing when he suddenly disappeared from their home.

Fortunately, she was simply unaware that Diauris, along with Deneisha, had planned a pleasant Christmas surprise for her.
He was collecting soft drink cans for refund so he could raise money to buy her a Christmas gift. As soon as he saw police cars at their apartment's residence, he came in and explained.

In an interview, Diauris said:
"I just wanted to do something for my mama."
Deneisha, who came up with the idea, also explained:
"I was afraid he was going to get in trouble. I just didn't want to say anything because it would blow the whole thing."

Police officers were so touched by the story that they raised $800 for the Reed family to have a Christmas to remember as well as a housewarming party. Reed and her two children expressed their appreciation to the officers.
