- Christo has Down Syndrome
- He told his family of his dream to work at a Spur restaurant
- The Michigan Spur in Noordhoek gave him that chance
The Michigan Spur in Noordhoek, Western Cape, fulfilled a 51-year-old man's dream of working at a Spur restaurant recently.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Christo, who was born with Down Syndrome, first told his family of his "imaginary world" where he works at Spur about a year ago.
His niece, Anel Bridges, shared the heartwarming story on her Facebook page, where it has gone viral.
Anel said the family approached Michigan Spur's manager with the idea of Christo shadowing the waiters for one night.
The restaurant's owner agreed and Christo was delighted. Anel wrote:
"While our family and friends fights back the tears (and as I am doing again now typing this!) Christo goes off with Arnold (a waiter) and with the biggest smile ever he helps with carrying menus, drinks, cutlery, etc. Christo does not want to rest, eat or leave! He LOVES it!"

At the end of the evening, the night manager "cashed" Christo and gave him his "salary" for his shift. Fellow waiters even contributed their own money to add to his salary.
Christo and his family were hugely grateful for the restaurant's kind gesture. Anel said:
"People, I cannot begin to explain the massive impact every person at Spur has made on Christo and how much this means to him and us, his family.
"Your kindness has restored so much faith in humanity! You might see this as a small gesture but this meant the world to Christo. Forever thank you!"
