- Bijoy Das was once a child beggar on the streets
- This made him very unhappy
- He then met a cobbler who taught him the value of honest work
A 55-year-old Bangladeshi man has shared how he stopped being a child beggar on the streets and became a proud cobbler for 44 years.
Bijoy Das shared his inspirational story on photojournalist GMB Akash's Facebook page. He said he was just 11 years old when he started begging after going hungry for two days.
He added that begging made him very unhappy and that he had to put on a sad face all the time to get money.
Das then met a 90-year-old cobbler named Kashem Miah who seemed happy despite the work he was doing.
Miah taught Das not to look down on any profession as long as it's honest work, and that as long as he did honest work he'd be happy. Das then learned how to be a cobbler, something he has now done for 44 years.
