The Independent, citing a member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), reports that Fayose's intention to contest for the presidency disqualifies him from continuing to hold the position as chairman of the PDP governors forum.
The source said the governor could no longer be viewed as neutral with his declaration as an aspirant in the 2019 presidential election as the position required neutrality.
"The PDPGF will soon get another chairman because Governor Ayodele Fayose will soon step down as chairman of the forum. The position requires absolute neutrality and that has been breached by Fayose having formally declared his intention to contest in the 2019" the source said.
Meanwhile, Fayose has said that the PDP needs him in 2019 as he knows how to defeat incumbents.
