- The Presidency has directed members of the Indigenous People of Biafra to ask sureties who signed its leader's bail for his whereabouts
- Garba Shehu said Nnamdi Kanu's sureties are to be held responsible if he is missing
- He said he has not being briefed on whether the IPOB leader is in custody of any government institution
The Presidency has reacted to claims by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra that its leader Nnamdi Kanu is missing.
The senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity Garba Shehu on Thursday, September 21, said the IPOB members should direct the inquiries to the sureties who signed Kanu's bail.
Among those who signed Kanu's bail on April 28 include a Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District Ennyinnaya Abaribe; a Jewish Rabi and a traditional ruler.

Shehu said: "I am surprised someone would ask this question. Look, some people went to court and obtained his freedom, they signed his bail."
“I believe that a high profile group including a Senator of the Federal Republic signed in a court of law and obtained his freedom. So, if you are looking for him, why don’t you ask the people who bailed him?
“Nobody has informed me that Mr Kanu is in the hands of any institution of government. But if I was looking for him, I would ask the guy who bailed him because that is the deal he has with the court of the land," Shehu said.
