A police officer stationed in Ebonyi state, Donatus Oyibe, has reportedly committed suicide over his deployment to Borno state, Premium Times reports.
The deceased, a native of Ndegu Ishieke LGA, Ebonyi state, reportedly jumped into a well when he went to fetch water, after receiving his transfer letter to the north-east state.

NAIJ.com gathers that the unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday night, September 3.
A source spoke about the late officer, stating: “He was a gallant mobile police officer and had already reported back to the Police Command where he was posted to operations department; and he resumed duties in earnest before the transfer came.”
The deceased’s daughter Ukamaka, also narrated what happened.
She stated that her father did not return, several hours after going to fetch water.
According to Ukamaka, concerned family members then went in search of him, only to find his bucket at the well, but he was nowhere in sight.
His body was eventually discovered in the well.
According to a police source, the deceased was among the last batch of mobile police officers recently deployed from the 32nd Squadron, Abakaliki, after completing his tour of duty.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that a police sergeant, Stephen James, committed suicide after killing three people in a Ketu hotel.
The incident was confirmed by an assistant superintendent and a spokesman of the police, who stated that the deceased officer acted under the influence of alcohol.
