A former governor of Oyo state, Rashidi Ladoja, has joined the race for the national chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) just weeks after he returned to the party.
NAIJ.com reports that Ladoja had been prevailed upon by the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led committee of the party when the latter visited him in his home recently.

Also visited was his successor, Christopher Alao-Akala.
Ladoja, who had formed the Accord Party (AP), returned to the PDP shortly after the visit.
He would now be slugging it out with Chief Bode George, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Prof Tunde Adeniran and others.
Daily Independent reports however that some forces in the party are currently opposed to the south-west producing the national chairman because those currently in the race cannot face Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the country’s former president.

It is yet to be ascertained if the tide is in favour of Ladoja, who was impeached during the administration of Obasanjo.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday, August 24, stormed the homes of two former governors in Oyo state to woo them to return to the party.
The national chairman of its caretaker committee, Ahmed Makarfi, led other top members to the meeting with the two former governors, Rasheed Ladoja, and Christopher Alao-Akala, who left the PDP long ago.
The two of them have now said they would consider the invitations extended to them by the party.
