Operation Python Dance: Igbo group praises Army, calls for probe of Nnamdi Kanu/ IPOB

- An Igbo group, the Southeast Professionals in Diaspora, has praised the Nigerian Army, for its ongoing Operation Python Dance campaign in the south east

- The group called for a probe of the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, as it stated that the resurgence of the pro-Biafra group may be connected to the recent discovery of a large cache of ammunition by the Customs Service

- While stating that with the Army’s campaign, things would change for the better, the group however urged troops to ensure that innocent people are protected while they carry out their activities

The Nigerian Army has been lauded by the Southeast Professionals in Diaspora, for its ongoing campaign in the south-east region, Operation Python Dance, New Telegraph reports.

The group expressed joy over the development, as it stated that it would bring an end to the secessionist agitations which it described as being sponsored by disgruntled politicians.

The group also noted that the campaign would put an end to the activities of criminals in the region.

NAIJ.com gathers that the group’s spokesman, Engr. Fidelis Nze, expressed happiness that the activities of the Army would help to halt the activities of the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as he stated that the pro-Biafra group peddles hate against other tribes.

With the recent discovery of a large cache of ammunition by the Customs Service, the group also called on security agencies to probe the activities of IPOB, as they noted that there may be a link between the resurgence of the pro-Biafra group, and the discovery of the weapons.

He however urged the military to ensure that innocent people are protected while it carries out its activities.

Nze stated: “It is evidently clear that the tide has changed for the better, especially in the last few days. The Nigerian military are doing well.

“We are very convinced that by the time this military sweep-up of criminalities in our region is over, it will give psychological, moral and economical relief to the generality of our people who have lived under the fear of terror by these notorious elements.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Nigerian Army in Enugu said that the military exercise in the south-east, code-named Operation Python Dance 2 is not targeted at the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Colonel Sagir Musa, the deputy director, public relations, 82 Division, on Tuesday, September 12, said this when he briefed newsmen at the NUJ Secretariat, Umuahia, on the activities of troops deployed in Abia for the exercise.
