The Nigerian senate has accused the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, of lying on National TV in reaction to the retirement saga involving the police force and a member of the Senate.
Moshood had accused Senator Isah Misau of being a deserter who left the Nigeria Police Force as a serving deputy superintendent of police to contest for the Senate.

The Senate reaction came on the heels of recent revelation that the Senator retired legitimately from the police force before seeking election into the Senate.
The Police Service Commission had on Wednesday, September 6 however confirmed that the Senator’s retirement from the Force followed due process. The Commission also said it issued the letter to the Senator.

Confirming the authenticity of the letter, the Commission’s Spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani was quoted to have said: “The Senator did not honour the invitation but the panel still went ahead to sit.
“At the meeting, the Panel made some inquiry and they confirmed that the Commission issued the letter and that it was based on recommendation for retirement from the Force Headquarters.
“The Police normally recommends people to us for retirement, so the recommendation came to the Commisssion and Misau’s name was included.
“We just confirmed that the retirement followed due process. The letter was dated 5th March, 2014 to take effect from the 1st of December 2010.
“The Commission has gone through their document and confirmed that we issued the letter with reference number;PSC/1034/V8/244. What are simply saying is that we gave him the letter of retirement.
NAIJ.com had reported that the Police Service Commission on Wednesday September 6 described as “authentic” the retirement letter of Senator Isah Misau, chairman Senate Committee on Navy.
NAIJ.com gathered that the Nigeria Police Force on August 27 declared Misau a “deserter”, and accused him of carrying a forged retirement letter.
