The Presidency has reversed the suspension of the chairman of special investigation panel on recovery of public property, Okoi Obono-Obla.
Vanguard reports that Obono-Obla's suspension was lifted one week after he was suspended as chairman of the panel by the attorney general of the federation and the minister of justice, Abubakar Malami.
Sources within the presidency said Obono-Obla's suspension reversal also came after he had a meeting with the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo.

It was gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari's intervention on his matter was based on explanations made on Obono-Obla's behalf by the vice president.
Obono-Obla who doubles as the senior special assistant on prosecution to President Buhari was instructed to operate under the vice president who would supervise the work of the special investigative panel henceforth.
The presidential aide is also expected to strictly adhere to taking directives from the presidency or the office of the attorney general of the federation, working strictly on directives or cases referred to him by the presidency or the AGF and not embarking on ‘expansionist’ search for materials to use under the guise of recovery of public property.

“For Obono-Obla to operate effectively, he must bear in mind that he cannot go outside the scope of what is given to him either by the presidency or the AGF and must abide by recovery issues referred to him by the two offices,” the source said.
The source however said: “I can confirm to you that Obono-Obla has not been sacked."
The only thing that must be made clear to him is that he should not assume to be operating on his own but to subject himself to the directives of the AGF of the presidency on whatever recovery he wants to embark on.”
It was also gathered that Obono-Obla was also barred from further granting press interviews without firstly securing permission to speak on any official matter.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the attorney general of the federation signed a memo suspending the presidential special assistant on prosecution from his position as the chairman of special investigation panel on recovery of public property.
The decision to suspend Obono-Obla was taken by Osinbajo who frowned at some activities of the presidential aide, especially on the media.
Obono-Obla was barred from doing anything either by himself or through the panel until it is cleared by the presidency.
