A lot of people often want to download a YouTube video, but the prospect of installing suspicious software on their computers seems like an unreasonable risk. Luckily, there are plenty of other ways to download video clips from YouTube. In this article, we will teach you how to download YouTube videos without installing any unnecessary software.
Before we begin, we would like to remind you that you should only download videos for personal use. If you try to use someone else’s videos for profit or other similar purposes, you might step into a dangerous territory of copyright infringement. So we recommend you not to do that, for your own sake.
Now that we have gotten that out of the way, let’s talk about helper websites that let you download videos from YouTube. We will divide them into two categories: those that require little to no effort and those that need more than two clicks to work. Let’s talk about them.
The easiest way to download YouTube videos
The first category of websites will be a perfect option for people that cannot be bothered to search for websites, plugins and other things like that. All they need to do is to remember some words or letter combinations that can allow them to get to the download page straight from the video.
And they have a lot to choose from:
There are plenty of websites that allow people to do that. For instance, one of the easiest to remember (and our personal favourite of many years) is SaveFrom.net. All you need to do is write ‘ss’ before youtube.com (for example, http://www.ssyoutube.com/watch...) and press Enter. You will be instantly transported to a download page, where you can choose the resolution and the format of your video.
Similar websites include VDYouTube (write ‘vd’ before yotube.com), Save-Video.com (write ‘magic’ between ‘you’ and ‘tube’), CONV. (write ‘conv’ before youtube.com) or YoutubeMonkeydownloader (write ‘monkey’ after ‘youtube’ and before ‘.com’).
All of these websites are quite similar to one another, the minor differences being the available formats for download and the details of the interface. You can also access the websites via links. Just click on the name of the website that interests you and check it out yourself.
A word of warning:
Even the most popular and trustworthy websites suffer from excessive advertisements and so-called ad traps (when the Download button takes you to an ad website instead of your file). Therefore, we recommend you to use any of them with caution. However, AdBlock and a good antivirus should protect you from any danger lurking on any of these websites.

Apart from what we have already mentioned, numerous other websites can fulfil your need of downloading a YouTube video. To be fair, it almost seems that anyone who knows at least some coding and has free time on their hands can make one of such websites.
However, as always, you should tread carefully. The Internet is full of phony sites that are riddled with ads and malware. In order to save you from the often painful and dangerous process of trial and error, here are some tried-and-true websites that can help you to download and even convert YouTube videos.
Disclaimer:
This is not a paid promotion for any of the websites. We just want you to know about these convenient tools that are not likely to hurt your computer in the process. If you are interested in any of them, click on their name to be transported to the website in question. Most of them will offer you their software, but you can just ignore it. Downloading their software is not required.
One of the websites that allow users to download videos not only from YouTube, but also from other sites is KeepVid. It gives you an opportunity to download videos (and other media files) from 28 popular websites. All you have to do is paste the link to the video in the designated field and then select the format that suits your needs.
There are two slight downsides to this option. First, you might get into an ad trap while trying to download the video. Nothing dangerous, just a bit annoying. Second, the website runs on Java, so if you do not have it and do not want to have it, then it is not the right option for you. Other than that, it is a perfect tool for downloading videos and music.
Another option is TubeNinja. It also supports multiple websites and file formats. Like the previous website, it is not perfect. If you have AdBlock, TubeNinja will not let you download the video until you disable it. However, the ads help run this website and keep it free for the users, so we should not really complain about that.
TubeNinja also has the shortcut like the websites from the previous section. Just write ‘dl’ before youtube.com to get to the download page. The reason why it is not in the previous section is that it will not work if you are running AdBlock, so it does not count as the easiest way.
We would also like to mention two other websites: ConvertToAudio.com and ClipConverter.cc. Do not let their names deceive you, as, apart from converting videos, they also allow you to download the files. Both of them work pretty much in the same ways all of the other websites listed here do. Nevertheless, it is always nice to have alternative options, just in case.
Well, that is about it for this short guide on how to download videos on YouTube. Of course, there are many other websites out there, but not all of them are trustworthy or even functional. However, do let us know if you find other good ways of how to download from YouTube. Share this article with your friends, if you think it is helpful. Have a nice day!
