He said the essence of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NNDC) has been defeated if the projects in the region are abandoned.
He said: “I am very worried because the main reason for the establishment of NDDC which is for the development of the Niger Delta has been defeated.
“Instead of seeing good projects, the area has been littered with abandoned and uncompleted projects.
“This is bad because it is only causing agitations in the region. The commission has been politicized. There is need for the president to probe all the projects that have been awarded in that institution.’’

He called on President Buhari not to extend the tenure of the Managing Director of the NDDC as any attempt to do so will spark unrest in the region.
Meanwhile, a chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state, Chief Perekeme Kpodo, sent a protest letter to President Buhari asking the latter to immediately probe the alleged monumental fraud in the NDDC.
Chief Kpodo claimed that despite the huge investments made by the federal government in the NDDC, revelations and allegations made against past and present management board have shown that the commission is now an avenue for quick and illegal money, misapplication of funds and abandoned projects.
Chief Kpodo, a former security adviser to the ex-governor of Bayelsa, said in the state alone, over 38 projects were abandoned and over N209 billion diverted into private pockets between 2011 and 2015 under the administration of Dr Goodluck Jonathan.
