Emotional moment as father and son reunite after 37 years apart

NAIJ.com came across a very touching video about a father who reunited with his long-lost son about 37 years after he last saw him.

According to a story making the rounds on social media, a young man identified as Lamarr Mainor, got what must have been the best birthday gift (a surprise reunion) with his father.

According to reports, the father and son duo had been separated for 37 years, only for them to meet after two of Mainor's friends went out of their way to find his father.

Mainor who had spent 15 years at the San Quentin state prison in California, USA, discovered that he liked helping 'troubled youths' especially the ones without a father-figure in their lives, as he had grown up without his father.

Speaking on his time in prison, Mainor said:

"It wasn't easy. I remember thinking that I would never leave prison. They had sentenced a 25-year-old kid to a 19-year sentence, I just couldn't process that. I had lost all the support of most of my friends and family. I remember feeling the hopelessness, and the emptiness, and I knew that I would not ever make it home if I didn’t make some real life-changing decisions."

After spending some time behind bars, Mainor started a non-profit organisation, Brave C.A.T.S (Children And Their Struggles)

Mainor however suffered a little before the reunion, he had to quit his job due to health issues after the loss a very close friend. This prompted his ex-wife and his girlfriend to find and plan the father-son reunion.

Sharing the video on Facebook, Mainor wrote:

"1st..Thank you April Gonzales & Ladie Tee, for giving me the best birthday EVER! You two women brought me my daddy after 37 years! And thank you for all the b-day wishes. I tried to respond to everyone, but it seemed like all my friends gave me a wish at the same time this year. I'm so humbled & blessed today."
