The Zimbabwe army has reportedly taken over the affairs of the country from he 93-year-old President Robert Mugabe.
Although the army has so far denied staging a coup in the nation, there are several reports that the president and his family are under house arrest.
As the military continues to run Zimbabwe, BBC lists six scenarios likely to happen in the country in the following days.
1. Voluntary resignation
President Mugabe may decide to voluntary resign from his post after 37 years in office. If this happens, Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who recently returned from exile, will take over party leadership and possibly become the new president.
It was widely believed that the Mugabe administration got into trouble after Mnangagwa was sacked and sent into exile, a decision that caused rancour among the ruling party, Zanu-PF.
2. Mugabe Allowed to finished tenure
The army has so far insisted that it's interference in the affair of Zimbabwe is not a coup, so there is a possibility that President Mugabe may be allowed to continue his tenure until December when the Zanu-PF national congress will hold. If the congress hold in December as expected, the party will likely replace Mugabe with Mnangagwa as party and national leader.

3. Exile
Mugabe and family may be forced into exile if the meeting with the military yielded no good result.
Already, there are unverified reports that the first lady, Grace Mugabe, has fled to Zambia. The Mugabes can also decide to move to South Africa, a country where they are rumoured to have several properties.
However, Grace Mugabe was granted diplomatic immunity in South Africa after allegedly assaulting a model in a hotel room in Johannesburg in August.
But model Gabriella Engels is trying to get the diplomatic immunity order set aside. If successful, it would mean Grace Mugabe could face prosecution should she go to South Africa.
4. National unity government
Opposition leaders, Tendai Biti and Morgan Tsvangirai may join hands with Zanu-Pf to form a national unity government.
Tsvangirai, the leader of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) party is back in Harare after receiving treatment for cancer in South Africa.
The national unity government is the option that will be suit all parties in the country.
5. A new Mugabe
The military, in their Tuesday, November 15, broadcast claimed that the army is not after Mugabe but the corrupt people around him. This means that power isn't likely to leave the Zanu-PF party any time soon.
If power is transmitted from Mugabe to Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe may have a new president who is reputed to be as brutal as the current governor.

6. A counter coup
In a turn of event, President Mugabe may stage his own counter coup using his loyal guards and few supporters in the army. If this happens, it is likely not going to be as bloodless as the army take over and may plunge the country into years of war.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported Mugabe that has met with the country’s army chief, Gen Constantino Chiwenga, with a Catholic cleric Father Fidelis Mukonori and South African envoys.
