The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal on Wednesday, November 15, secured the conviction of a currency counterfeiter Hussaini Baba at the Federal High Court Kaduna.
In a post shared on the agency's Facebook page, Baba was convicted in a case of currency counterfeiting to the tune of One Hundred and Eighty Three Thousand, Five Hundred Naira.

Upon his arraignment on October 26, Baba had pleaded not guilty to the one count charge against him and the case was adjourned to November 15, for commencement of trial.
In the course of court proceedings, prosecuting counsel Sa'ad Hannafi Sa'ad presented two witnesses but the accused's counsel informed Justice Shuaibu that after due diligence the accused intended to change his plea to that of guilty.
The accused was eventually sentenced to 12 months in prison without option of fine and the judge ordered that the fake money be destroyed by the EFCC.
In a previous post by NAIJ.com, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, revealed how the whistle-blowing policy helped him during his tenure as chairman of the commission.
While speaking on Tuesday, November 14, at an event organised by the African Centre for Media & Information Literacy (AFRICMIL) in conjunction with House Committee on Financial Crimes, Socio-economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) and Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism, Ribadu urged Nigerians to embrace the whistle-blowing policy.

The director of AFRICMIL, Chido Onumah, said the event was designed to interrogate the whistle-blowing policy.
