The minister of communications, Adebayo Shittu, has assured Nigerians that administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has no plan to place any form of embargo on the use of social media platforms.

The minister gave the assurance on Thursday, November 16, at the opening ceremony of a two-day ministerial retreat on Social Media for Good Governance organized, the Nation reports.
Shittu said that fact Social Media may be used to express views critical of the government or the social-political system will not prompt the government will not limit Nigerians’ access to Social Media space.
He said: “Protecting critical expression on the internet is the standard by which governments are now held to be genuinely democratic.

“Nigerians should, therefore, feel free to discuss government policies and engage in responsible political debates; report corruption and exercise their right to expression of opinion and dissent. Government will defend and keep to its commitment to human rights, transparency, rule of law and accountability,”
Shittu said the government will proactively act to ensure free and secure policies that ensure use of technology based platforms of interaction in the social media.
Meanwhile, the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed has said that as the economy continues to get better, Nigerians will begin to feel the improvement in their daily lives.
According to report, the minister said the President Muhammadu Buhari administration continues to make moves to better the lives of Nigerians
He noted that the country being out of recession was as a result of the work done by the administration and that prices of food will continue to tumble.
