A fundraising drive to reinvigorate the Bank of the North which was merged with some financial institutions about 10 years ago, has been started by the 19 northern governors, The Cable reports.
The development was made public by the governor of Kano state Abdullahi Ganduje, while addressing members of the state’s executive council.

NAIJ.com gathers that Ganduje also disclosed that the governors deliberated at length about the clash between herdsmen and farmers, and promised to look into the matter.
They also resolved to stimulate the economy by reviving the textile industry in certain states.
According to Ganduje, the need for peace, unity and stability in the region was discussed by the governors.
Ganduje also signed the North West University amendment law 2017 and the Kano University of Science and Technology amendment law 2017 into law.
The governor revealed that the laws were aimed at harmonizing the processes for appointing vice chancellors in the two institutions and closing the gap and variation between the two state-owned universities.
