- American mom gives birth to a baby boy weighing 6.4 kilos
- Doctors were shocked when the baby was born. His weight wasn’t normal
- The medics say average newborn weight should be around 3 kilos
An American mother has given birth to a baby boy weighing a jaw-dropping 6.4 kilos, which doctors say is more than twice the average weight of a normal newborn.
The baby, named Loyalty, is so huge even doctors are shocked by his super-size. When he was still in his mom’s womb, most people thought the mother, LaQueena Hunter Grover, was carrying twins.
“I am not going to have any more kids,” the mother-of-four told WDSU, a local news station, after Loyalty was born."

Loyalty, LaQueena says, can’t fit in pampers and clothes meant for newborn children his age because of his abnormal size.

“He is supposed to wear size one like other newborns, but he wears size three pampers, which is meant for six month old babies.”
Interestingly, Loyalty is not the only super-size baby that has been born in America. Doctors are getting concerned that there is an increase in the number of abnormally huge infants being born in America and other developed countries.
According to a medical journal Lancet report published in 2013, there has been significant increase in the weight of newborns in most developed countries from 15 to 25 per cent.

Another report, published in August 2015 in the journal Diabetes Care, notes that overweight mothers who do not have gestational diabetes are more likely to give birth to oversized babies.
