- Ahmed Makarfi said new members are welcomed into the PDP

Ahmed Makarfi who is the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a warning to those who want to join the party or return to it that there will be no special privilege for them.
Premium Times reports that the DP chairman made this statement on Thursday, August 3 when he received a delegation of PDP Rescue Group led by Wilberforce Juta in Abuja.

Makarfi said the party was open to reconciliation and people were urged the party.
He however insisted that everyone who joined the party would get a level playing ground as every other member and no one would be treated specially or differently.
He noted that the political sphere of Nigeria has to deal with political nomads and said while this is not a good thing, those that return to the PDP will be welcomed.
The chairman said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has the problem of dealing with new members and that the PDP was learning from this mistakes and would not repeat them.
Makarfi said: “We are open to reconciling with everybody. We are open to accepting new entrants into the party, but no special privileges for anybody coming into the party.
“That is not an issue to be contemplated. No exclusivity. It will be inclusive without any special privilege to anybody or group of individuals.

“That is how the ruling party got it wrong. We should learn from that.
“What we need to do is that we will create level-playing field; and we don’t lord it over those who have slaved for the party."
Meanwhile, former governors of Oyo state, Rashidi Ladoja and Christopher Alao Akala were on Wednesday August 2, represented at the re-conciliatory meeting of the states PDP stakeholders called by the National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi.
The meeting which is part of ongoing efforts aimed at repositioning the party for the 2019 elections took place at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Wuse, Abuja.
Represented by Senator Femi Lanlehin and Kareem Tajudeen, Ladoja and Akala are currently chieftains of the Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress, respectively.
